Friday, July 28, 2006 AMAZING THAILAND A 2 hour drive from Pattaya to Bangkok in a Merc. We were all set for the spree! ![]() DAY 1 Before we reached our destination, we already could see our hotel. We were amazed when we saw the height of our hotel, Baiyoke Sky Hotel, the tallest hotel in Thailand. We were ecstatic that our hotel was located at the streets of Pratunam and the huge size of our hotel room! After checking in at the lobby, located at the 17th floor, we dumped our luggages and hit the streets of Pratunam. Entering the Pratunam Market, Pratunam Complex, Pratunam Centre and The Platinum Fashion Mall. We kind of held back a bit of shopping as it's only the first day. We merely bought what we thought its worth for as it's not an easy task to bargain at Pratunam. ![]() ![]() DAY 2 A spread of breakfast at the 76th floor and we proceed to the 77th floor for a view and photo taking. At 1100hrs, we took the free shuttle service from the hotel to Phaya Thai Skytrain. We stopped at Siam station and gave our foot a hard time, walking to Siam Paragon, Siam Center, Siam Square and MBK. Entering Siam Paragon and Siam Center was a luxury and of course we do not make any purchases over there. I could actually remember the route to Siam Square where HRC was located and purchased their merchandise. Over at MBK, we roamed the whole building and exit with a number of plastic bags. By then, we forgo the idea of returning to hotel taking the skytrain. We took the tut-tut back, a first time experience for both of us as I never took it when I went there 8 years ago. Chucked the bags and washed up, we went to Maedah Restaurant which located just minutes from our hotel. If not for our growling tummies, we would have rested longer! After a hearty meal, we were back to the hotel to give our feet a rest. At 2000hrs, we hailed a cab and off to Suan Lum Night Bazaar. We were thrilled by the countless number of shops available. Turn right and left, front and back, all the rows and streets filled with shops. It's much cleaner and organized than Pratunam. We went bizarre and received quite a good bargain and we returned with more plastic bags. Upon returning, he was famished and since our feets already begging for mercy, we had to order room service. ![]() ![]() Day 3 A relaxing day, we hit the pool after breakfast. We covered the whole stretch of Pratunam Market and enjoyed the foot reflexlogy massage at the hotel. After a short nap, we went to the 18th floor for a meal at Sky Coffee Shop. At 2000hrs, we set off to Patpong Market. We had to emphasize to the taxi driver on the intention of going to Patpong because they had Patpong massage, Patpong show and Patpong shopping. So we highlighted to the driver that our invention was shopping only! We got an incredible bargain and we could have grabbed more if we never thought of the next day challenge! ![]() DAY 4 We double charged ourselves with a heavy breakfast. We took the free shuttle service again to Phaya Thai skytrain and alighted at Mo Chit station. The war began; we were at Chatuchak Market from 1100hrs to 1800hrs. We were extremely lethargic and we brought back take away order from Maedah Restaurant. Tired we were but we decide to make full use of our trip there. We actually tore apart either to go to Patpong or Suan Lum again. Since there's some stuff I want to get when I saw the day before, hailed a cab, we reached Patpong again. Back in hotel, we did some packing and realized we do not have enough space. So we decide to buy a luggage the next day. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() DAY 5 Our last breakfast at the hotel was especially served by the supervisor. We spent some time at the pool and had our last meal at Mak Yan Restaurant. We bought a luggage at Pratunam Market and some souvenirs from the hotel. We did our final packing and a total of 7 luggages. The stay at Baiyoke Sky Hotel was wonderful, despite the hassle of taking the lift to the 17th floor to reach the lobby and to take another lift to reach our 36th floor. We were driven in a BMW to Bangkok International Airport for our flight back to our homeland. ![]() Overall, it was a marvelous and memorable trip. We truly satisfied with our buying and simply ignored the decreasing figures in our account! We treasured every single memories of it and the quality time we had together. ![]() We won't be leaving the little one behind for the next round! ;-) COPYRIGHT 2004 RYANNA GONZALES ALL RIGHTS RESERVED |
